Kpop King Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 8, 2026

Kpop King ("we," "us," "our") is operated by MC Media. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Kpop King app and website (kpopking.app), how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using Kpop King, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and password. If you sign in with Google or Apple instead, we receive the email address and name that provider shares with us (with Apple you may choose to hide your real email). Existing Kakao accounts created before September 2026 are still supported; those accounts may not have an email on file, in which case we ask you to add one so we can reach you. Your password is never stored in plain text — it is handled securely by our authentication provider.

Profile information. You may optionally provide a display name, a short bio, a profile photo you upload, your age range, city, and district (or, for users outside Korea, a free-text city/country). Uploaded photos are stored in our backend and shown next to your name in leaderboards and group discussions. This information also powers location- and age-based leaderboards within the app.

Gameplay data. We collect the song predictions you make each week, your scores, your rank, and your history of past predictions and results.

Group and social data. If you create or join a group, we collect the group's name, membership list, and any posts or messages you make within group discussion features.

Song submissions. If you submit a song for consideration, we collect the song title and artist name you provide.

Usage and device data. We may automatically collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser or device type, and general usage patterns (such as which pages you visit), to help us operate and improve the app.

Error and crash reports. When something goes wrong, we record diagnostic details about the error (device, app version, and what the app was doing), linked to your account so we can follow up. This includes a short masked recording of the screen leading up to the error — text, anything you typed, images, and photos are hidden before it leaves your device.

Payment information. If you buy a paid feature, payment is processed by Toss Payments. We never see or store your card details; we keep only the order reference and whether the payment succeeded.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Operate core gameplay features (predictions, scoring, leaderboards)
  • Show your rank to other users within the leaderboard and group features you participate in (your display name, rank, and points — never your email address or password)
  • Enable group features, including invitations and group discussions
  • Communicate with you about your account (such as email verification or password reset)
  • Investigate and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our rules
  • Improve and maintain the app

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Information Shared With Other Users

Certain information is visible to other users of the app by design:

  • Your display name, rank, and points on leaderboards (Group, City, District, Age, and Overall)
  • Your locked-in weekly predictions, once that week's results are finalized
  • Your group membership and any messages you post within a group you belong to

Your email address, password, and exact account details are never shown to other users.

4. Third-Party Services

Kpop King relies on the following third-party services to operate:

  • Supabase / Lovable Cloud — our backend database and authentication provider, which securely stores account and gameplay data
  • Google and Apple — used if you choose one of these as your sign-in method. We receive the basic account details they share with us (typically an email address and a name; Apple lets you hide your real email). Existing Kakao accounts created before September 2026 are still supported, and some of those accounts share no email at all, in which case we ask you for one
  • Sentry — error and crash reporting, so we can find and fix problems. It records technical details of an error along with your account ID and email, plus a short recording of the screen leading up to it. Those recordings are masked: text, form entries, images, and photos are hidden before anything leaves your device
  • Resend — used to send account and app emails, such as verification and announcements
  • Toss Payments — our payment provider, used only if you purchase a paid feature. Your card details are entered with Toss and never reach or get stored by Kpop King; we only receive the payment status and order reference
  • YouTube — used to let you play song previews inside the app. When you play a video, YouTube's own privacy policy and terms apply to that playback

Each of these providers processes data according to their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and gameplay information for as long as your account remains active, or as needed to provide the service. Song submissions that are not used or verified may be automatically removed after approximately one month.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You may:

  • Update or correct your profile information at any time within the app
  • Delete your account yourself, at any time, from Edit profile → "Delete my account". This immediately and permanently removes your login, profile, profile photo, predictions, scores, group memberships, and posts. You can also email us at the address below if you prefer
  • Leave any group you have joined at any time

If you are located in Korea, you have rights under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.

7. Children's Privacy

Kpop King is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including database-level access controls that restrict who can view or modify your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
